Anchorage's finest treasury of quality, creative playthings. Conveniently located next to the Huffman Post Office in South Anchorage, we've served Alaska and beyond for over fifteen years. We cater to all ages, stocking a wide variety of unique, open-ended toys and activities that will engage and entertain your infant, your adolescent, your college student, and you!
Who we are
Over The Rainbow Toy Store is Anchorage's best source for specialty toys. Our hands-on store and informative staff enables customers to select the best tools to nurture, educate, and enrich their children. Owner Janet Gregory is known as "mom" to Abby-Marie and Stuart, and she carefully selects these toys, seeing them through a mom's eyes. Some of the words our customers use to describe our playthings are "fun," "creative," "developmental," "distinctive," and "imaginative."
Our philosophy
We believe that a child's play experience should be positive - both fun and educational. Accordingly, we endeavor to bring our customers toys that are interesting, not boring; innovative, not trendy; involving, not passive. We believe in treating our customers with personalized service, and with a willingness to make an extra effort on their behalf. Our high standards translate into providing the customer with a wonderful experience.
We believe that children are our most valuable resource, and that helping a child develop to their fullest potential is the most valuable investment we can make. As the saying goes,
100 years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove... but the world may be a different place because I was important in the life of a child.
About Our Store
Over the Rainbow Toystore has been open for fifteen years under current ownership, originally under the name Flights of Fancy in the University Center Mall. We have grown and improved over the years with the support of our wonderful customer base, and continually strive to meet the needs of children and families in our community.
For more information about what's going on in the store, we invite you to sign up for our print mailing list (contact us or visit!). We only send out a few things a year, including a catalogue in the fall that's great for out-of-state relatives to shop from, and a postcard announcing our annual sale in September.
In addition, sign up for our e-mail newsletter, which comes about once a month and contains highlights of new products, information of what's going on in-store, and articles of interest.
